Conniff’s father led the Jewelry City Band in Attleboro and taught his son to play the trombone. Ray Conniff was born on November 6, 1916, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, the son of John Laurence, a trombonist, and Maude (Angela) Conniff, a pianist.Ray had a sister named Bernadette Marie Pittman (born in 1911).
